This course provides an introduction to a wide range of mathematical techniques, a central theme being to apply abstract and logical methods to problems. You will acquire a core set of skills in mathematical science alongside the basics in actuarial science. This provides a good starting point for a career in the finance sector, especially in risk assessment, insurance and statistical finance. This degree can be taken to either the BSc (Hons) or MMath (Hons) level. The MMath (Hons) is an enhanced first degree requiring an extra academic year of study that includes more advanced topics.

Entry requirements
  • A-levels : ABB
  • IELTS : 6 - 6.0 overall score, with at least 6.0 in each component
  • International Baccalaureate : 32 - 32 points, including 6 in Higher Level Mathematics
  • PTE Academic : 58 - 58 overall with a minimum of 50 in each component.
  • UCAS Tariff : 320 - 320 UCAS points
  • Other : 'A' Level: 320 UCAS points, including Mathematics and Further Mathematics at 'A' Level grade A
    IB: 32 points, including 6 in Higher Level Mathematics
    GCSE: English Language grade C (or equivalent).

    English Requirements
    If your first language is not English, we will require evidence of English language proficiency. The minimum requirement is:

    IELTS: 6.0 overall score, with at least 6.0 in each component
    PTE Academic: 58 overall with a minimum of 50 in each component.
